The Bodog Poker Mini-Series, an online poker tournament set to mirror the World Series of Poker with 1/100th buy-ins and prize pools, hosted its final event that played out alongside the actual WSOP Main Event. As such, while the WSOP Main Event was whittling its field towards the final table, Bodog Poker players were simultaneously competing for a chance to win the first seats in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
As the BodogLife.com Poker Mini Series came to its conclusion, the top three finishers in the final event became the first players in history to win a seat so soon in the upcoming year’s World Series of Poker. The winners were “pokerfanx789”, “dudix” and “Boswan”. Each of these Bodog.com Poker players, through a combination of impeccable skills and good fortune, have been awarded a $12,000 VIP prize package that includes the $10,000 buy-in for a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event with Team Bodog, plus $2,000 for travel, accommodations and Las Vegas spending cash.
The Bodog Poker Mini Series final tournament was a 27-seater that included the top four Mini Series leaderboard competitors, eighteen Semi-Final Qualifiers and 5 “wild card” selections, randomly chosen from every member of Bodog Poker who had entered at least three events throughout the 2008 Mini Series. The top three received the $12,000 VIP prize package to the 2009 WSOP Main Event, while places 4 through 9 were award T$109 (tournament dollars).
Over the duration of the Bodog Poker Mini Series, a total of 3,376 online poker players participated. The online poker room awarded $107,000 in overall cash prizes.
