BodogLife.com has spent the last month promoting the introduction of its largest ever guaranteed online poker tournament, boasting a prize pool of at least $250,000. The long-awaited results are finally in as 816 players converged on the tables, awarding the top prize of $56,600 to 1st place winner ‘KILL_BILL'.
Bodog Poker was hoping to increase its online poker tournament participation level by promoting such a massive event. Previously, BodogPoker.com’s highest GTD was a weekly $100k. Though many anticipated a very large tournament last Sunday, the 816 entries were only enough to cover $204,000 of the $250k GP. The overlay resulted in Bodog Poker posting the remaining $46,000 out of pocket - great for the playing field, but not so great for the online poker room.
The final three participants were ‘DrDankRx23’, ‘jobless23’ and ‘KILL_BILL’. It would seem ‘23’ was not the luckiest of numbers that night as ‘DrDankRx23’ was the first sent to the rails, earning a 3rd place prize of $21,750.
Heads-up action ensued between ‘jobless23’ and ‘KILL_BILL’. It was some time before a winner emerged, but in the end, it was ‘KILL_BILL’ ousting the unlucky #23 to claim the top prize of $56,600, and the lifetime bragging rights of taking down Bodog’s first and largest $250,000 GTD tournament.
‘jobless23’ was awarded an impressive $31,400 for his 2nd place finish.
Finishing in the 4th position was online poker tournament pro Mark ‘dipthrong’ Herm. Herm has accomplished numerous 1st place victories in the online poker community over the past month. On June 6th, ‘dipthrong’ took 1st in the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Mulligan for $44,436. Only a week later, Herm won the Full Tilt Poker $750k GTD for $147,382. Then, just one week ago on August 3rd, he took down a $530 NL Hold’em tournament with a $250k GP at PokerStar.com, pocketing $91,523.
