The FullTiltPoker.Net website is an online poker room, but instead of playing for real money you're only allowed to play with play money. There are prizes to be won in certain events that are held in the poker room so players are still able to win things from playing. One of the major events that is going to be taking place at the poker room over the next two months is the Canada Cup of Poker. The actual event will be played live in Toronto, Ontario, but all of the qualifying events will be held in the poker room at FullTiltPoker.Net. In order to be able to play in the qualifying tournaments you need to live in Canada since only Canadians are allowed to take part in the event.
There are seven separate teams which are split up by province that will be fighting for the Canada Cup of Poker Championship and each team will have three players. Every player who qualifies for a spot in the tournament online will be given money so that they can fly to Toronto in August and play in the event. The way the tournament will be played is a fairly new format which hasn’t been seen in very many other tournaments.
All of the team members will be playing off of the same team chip stack in the tournament. This means that only one player from each team will be playing on the table at once and they will be on the line for the entire team. Once the team has no chips left then they are knocked out of the tournament and they can’t continue. This type of tournament puts added pressure on the players in the event because if they make the wrong move and lose a big pot it hurts the entire team.
Every single one of the seven teams in the tournament will make some money for playing, but obviously the teams will make more money for finishing in a higher position. The first place team will win $75K which will be divided among the team members equally giving them $25K each. The winning team will also have the chance to play against Full Tilt Team Pros in heads-up matches for cash prizes. Each of the three team members will be allowed to play in one heads-up match each against one professional player.
With only three spots open on each team there won’t be that many opportunities for you to earn a spot in the Canada Cup of Poker.
