Only a few weeks ago, we reported the introduction of new ultra high-stakes tables at Full Tilt Poker. These tables were created on the suggestion of the online poker room's newest Pro, Patrik Antonius. Over the weekend, Antonius proved their worth (for himself anyways) by earning more than half a million at Full Tilt Poker.
While this sounds amazingly profitable for the Finnish Full Tilt Pro, let’s reverse time a few weeks. Since the start of this month, Patrik has actually seen a net loss of about $1.5 million. This weekend’s action has only proved to recover most of his losses. Let’s take a look at the largest single hand that went down over the weekend.
Playing at the "Raileaven" high stakes table, with $500/$1,000 blinds and a $50k bankroll requirement just to join, Antonius took on “pr1nnyraid” in a session of No Limit Hold’em.
Approximate Chip Stacks: Antonius - $160,000 Pr1nnyrid - $135,000
Antonius raised $3,000 on the small blind, called by pr1nnyraid.
The Flop: 7s-9h-4c
A check from pr1nnyraid instigated a $5,000 bet from Antonius, falling for the set-up Check-Raise of $18,000 from pr1nnyraid. Antonius called.
The Turn: Ac
$26,000 was tossed in the pot from pr1nnyraid. Again, Antonius called.
The River: Qh
pr1nnyraid immediately goes all-in, and - you guessed it - Antonius called. On the reveal, pr1nnyraid flips 9s-9c, sure his set will take the pot. Antonius, however, flips Qs-Qd for the higher set. The Full Tilt Pro pocketed $227,000 before the table ran out.
For the month of July, Antonius is still down a whopping $329,210, but last weekend’s action has certainly sparked a major turnaround for the young man. If Patrik can keep up this impeccable game play, he just may find his balance in the green before long.
If you're ready for these stakes, join Antonius at FullTiltPoker.com, or if you'd rather just practice for free for now - try FullTiltPoker.net instead.
