The 10th installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series at FullTilt Poker.com kicked off last Wednesday, and already we've seen nine impressive victories come out of the 25-event, $15 million guaranteed series. FTOPS-X Event #9 was the most lucrative thus far, with a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool.
Though the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS-X Gateway page listed Gus Hansen as the host of Sunday’s event, it was actually Howard Lederer on hand to observe the action. A field of 5,370 took to the tables, paying the $300+$22 direct buy-in, or winning a seat through various satellite competitions won by players who first learned to play at FullTiltPoker.net.
The tournament lasted just seven minutes shy of twelve hours before a winner emerged; little surprise with so much at stake as the eventual winner would claim more than a quarter of a million dollars.
As the final table unfolded, we saw a few familiar names from the online poker community. American "SN8WMAN", who’s already raked in well over $800,000 in online poker tournament cashes this year, finished in the 8th spot, adding $28,193 to his pocket.
One after another, the final tablist dropped out of the running until “megax82” found a quick route to the rails. The 3rd place finish earned “megax82” a respectable pay check of $108,259. That left “xTheory” and “bigdogpckt5s” to battle it out in heads-up for the 1st place prize.
The 23 year old American, “xTheory”, put up a strong fight, but could not outlast the impressive skills of Canadian poker pro Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek. The FTOPS-X Event #9 victory trumped all of Casey’s online poker tournament cashes of the year, bringing in $277,930. Prior to Sunday’s victory, Jarzabek’s largest online poker cash was $62,500, a 1st place win on March 1, 2008 at the Absolute Poker Super Saturday $250k GTD.
