Tom "durrrr" Dwan is arguably the most prolific poker player at Full Tilt Poker, competing alongside the likes of Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, Hac “trex313” Dang and Patrik Antonius. Last weekend, Dwan had his fair share of ups and downs, but ultimately came out on top (as he always seems to do).
In the early pre-dawn hours of Friday morning, “durrrr” and “LarsLuzak” were seated at the $500/$1,000 GusHeaven table with comfortable stacks, to put it mildly. Within a time frame of only a few minutes, LarsLuzak managed to swipe two pots from Dwan, each worth more than $250,000.
In the first hand, clocked at 4:21am ET, LarsLuzak's Pocket Aces prevailed to award a massive pot of $256,985. Nine minutes later, at 4:30am ET, both players flopped a Diamond Flush Draw that was completed on the River, but Luzak’s Td-7d proved scarcely stronger than Dwan’s 9d-6d, awarding him another staggering pot of $269,597.
Even though the $500k+ loss took a bite out of Dwan’s annual earnings at Full Tilt Poker, it dissuaded him in the least as the next morning - Saturday, December 27th - Dwan was at it again, this time facing off at the $500/$1,000 NL Hold’em RailHeaven table. His opponents included Full Tilt Pro Patrik Antonius, and Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond.
In this session, Tom “durrrr” Dwan accomplished an incredible feat that only two other FullTilt.com have ever managed in the history of the online poker room. Dwan stacked up $1,000,000+ chips at a single session of poker. Even more amazingly, this marks the third time Dwan has achieved such recompense. The only others to do so (and only once, not three times as in Dwan’s case) were Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.
The hand that took Dwan over the top involved a Pre-Flop all-in from Galfond, repeated by Tom. Antonius took the high road and Folded out, only a few thousand down. When the river card fell, Dwan found himself scooping a $260k pot to put him over the $1 million chip stack mark for the third time in his short, illustrious career.
