Full Tilt Poker Tournaments: Weekend Update - Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 02:50
Full Tilt Poker hosted more than $1 million in guaranteed online poker tournaments this weekend - just as it does every Sunday - spanning the $250k Sunday Brawl, the $750k Guaranteed and the $150k Sunday Mulligan.

Starting off the action at 2:00 p.m. ET was the www.FullTilt.com Sunday Brawl knockout tournament, where 1,737 participants offered up the $240+$16 buy-in to battle it out for bounties. The $250,000 guaranteed prize pool was hiked to $347,400 by the excessive entries. The online poker tournament lasted just over 8 hours before "Ace18" was sent to the rails by “SMIFF_29” in heads up play, earning “Ace18” $47,246 for the 2nd place finish. “SMIFF_29” walked away with $71,564 for the diligent victory.

Next came the largest weekly online poker event at FullTilt Poker, the $750,000 Guaranteed with a buy-in of $200+$16. A field of 4,173 took to the tournament tables, enough to extend the prize pool to $834,600. Another long battle ensued, lasting another 8 hours, and then some before a victor emerged.

In this case, the 1st place winner - Mark “dipthrong” Herm - made online poker news headlines after taking down “DG101” to win the Full Tilt Poker $750k GP, earning himself $147,382. What made the victory so incredible was that earlier that same day, “dipthrong” was award Bodog Poker's 1st place prize of $23,000 for winning the $100k GP.

The elite skills of “dipthrong” defeated nearly 5,000 opponents in less than 12 hours, pocketing $170,382 overall - how’s that for ‘time and a half’?

Last but not least came the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Mulligan, worth a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000. Once again, a large than expected field of 1,148 participants raised the GP to $229,600, paying the top 108 spots. Among those competitors was a name familiar to anyone who follows the game of poker - “Annette_15”, now known better as Annette Obrestad, winner of the first annual World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) at the ripe age of 18. That victory not only earned her the record as the first female to win a WSOP Main Event, but the youngest, as well. Before her impressive WSOPE triumph, “Annette_15” was already reputed as one of the most fearsome competitors in the online poker world.

As you may have guessed by now, Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad whittled her way through the field to claim yet another lucrative victory at the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Mulligan. Obrestad was awarded the 1st place prize of $51,660.
