High stakes cash games at Full Tilt Poker can get pretty intense especially if the players competing are high profile poker players like Phil Ivey. In the past the high stakes players would enjoy the Pot Limit Omaha and HA tables but ever since Full Tilt introduced the 7-Game rotation, the high stakes players have found a new place to compete. Ivey is one of those players and during a recent session he earned over $1 million while competing at the 7-Game rotation tables.
This past Wednesday night several poker pros were seated at the 7-Game tables. At one point during the night three tables were running at the $2,000/$4,000 7-Game tables. The players at the tables were Ivey, Gus Hanson, Phil Galfond, Tom Dwan, Cole South, Chau Giang and Ilari Sahamies.
The highlight of the night involved both Phil Ivey and Phil Galfond. Galfond had not been having a good night and he lost almost $445,000 but Ivey was on a roll and earned $1,160,000 for the night. Ivey's earnings are one of the largest wins in online poker cash game history.
Ivey earned cash from Galfond, Dwan, Giang, David Oppenheim and Sahamies. Dwan was down $344,000 for the night while Giang was down $290,000 for the night. Those looking good were Patrik Antonius who was up $104,000 and Richard Ashby who was up $71,000.
Ivey had a great night Wednesday but when he returned to the 7-Game tables on Thursday he was not so fortunate. Ivey lost while Sahamies came out the winner. He earned $336,000 which will help soothe the pain of his losses on Wednesday night and give him a little extra cushion. The 7-Game tables seem to be the new game of choice for the high stakes players and if the action continues as it has for the past few days it will definitely be very interesting.
