On January 17th Full Tilt Poker hosted their $1 million guaranteed tournament and almost 2,500 players registered compete. One of the players competing was Kevin ‘kice32' Iacofano. Kevin made it to final table play during the tournament and pledge to give 5% of his winnings to a charity which will be supporting the relief efforts Haiti, which was affected recently by a massive earthquake.
The tournament was fast paced and those who made the final table knew they would take away a very nice prize. Kice32 made it to fifth place during the competition so he earned almost $55,000 for his efforts. Kice32 told PocketFives that he felt like he was hanging around for a while. He had cashed in to about eight tournaments so he was paying attention to other things too.
The poker player also commented on why he decided to donate 5% of his winnings as he stated: demonstrated the global effort and Iacofano told us why he decided to give 5%: "When I see over 100,000 people die in one natural disaster, I can’t help but do something. You’re human. It doesn’t matter where it is or who it is. They’re showing videos of people picking up little girls from under rubble and that hits you hard. You can’t miss something like this. I’m blessed and fortunate to be in the situation I’m in."
The Full Tilt Poker $1 Million Guaranteed tournament has a buy-in of $535 and the top 351 players finish in the money. So kice32 held on for a quite awhile to earn the fifth place finish. In the end it would be JAMA1CA2008 who would walk away with the top prize of $225,000.
JAM1CA2008 had to outlast 4ortik76 in heads up play before he would claim the win. However it would not be long before the cards would be in JAM1CA2008’s favor and he would claim the first place prize.
