The PartyPoker Premier League IV finished up recently and it was poker pro David Benyamine who earned the first place win. Benyamine had to defeat fellow poker pro Luke Schwartz in heads up play before he would earn the $476,000 first place prize.
Six players were left when the final table began. Each player began with 10,000 chips and more chips for every point they had earned during Premier League play. Phil Laak held the most chips at 480,000 while Benyamine had the second largest stack of 380,000.
The final six players were Benyamine, Laak, Schwartz, Giovanni Safina, Daniel Negreanu and Roland de Wolfe. Laak was the first to go after going up against Benyamine with pocket tens. His tens were no match for Benyamine's A-K and he was out in sixth place.
Not long after de Wolfe would exit in fifth after going up against Negreanu. It would not be long till Negreanu would go out in fourth when he took a hit after going up against Schwartz. Safina would follow soon after and then Schwartz and Benyamine would finish the tournament in the last heads up match.
Schwartz held the chip lead but it would not be long before Benyamine would double up and gain the chip lead. On the final hand Benyamine held Q-8 while Schwartz held Q-2. The flop was Q-5-3 and Schwartz went all in and Benyamine finally called. The river and turn cards were 7-6 and Benyamine earned the first place win.
Benyamine commented to Matchroom Sports on his win stating: "it feels really good winning a title; I’m still not used to doing it. The whole time, I never thought about winning. I just wanted to do what I thought was right. I know people always say that when they win, but it’s true."
