PokerStars.com has officially released the long-awaited schedule for the 2008 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). One of the most lucrative high-stakes tournament events in the online poker world, the 2008 WCOOP features buy-ins as high as $25,000.
All told, PokerStar.com is guaranteeing a minimum of $30 million across the boards, including $10 million in the WCOOP Main Event alone. The $25,000 Heads-Up event will boast at least $2 million in prizes. Even the lowest guaranteed prize is nothing to wave off, being a $320 Stud event with a $100k GP. PokerStar.com will kick off the 2008 WCOOP on September 5th with a $215 6-Max NL Hold’em event guaranteeing a whopping $1,000,000. The 33 event schedule will last 17 days, hosting 2 events per day until the final 2008 WCOPP Main Event on September 21st. (See the full PokerStars 2008 WCOOP Schedule below.)
PokerStars will begin hosting WCOOP Satellites on July 1st, giving its online poker members a chance to win a seat in the 2008 WCOOP Main Event without paying the full buy-in price of $5,200.
