Jason Alexander To Represent PokerStars - Monday, January 26, 2009 at 00:23
Jason Alexander is famous for a lot of things, most especially his role as George Costanza on Seinfeld, but falling far from the top of the list is his love for the game of poker. That did not stop PokerStars.net, however, from successfully signing Alexander as the newest brand ambassador for the online poker room.

Jason Alexander's exclusive sponsorship deal with PokerStars will see the proclaimed actor participating in regular live and online poker events, including a seat in the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP), representing PokerStars along the way.

"PokerStars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players," Alexander told reporters. "I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I'm learning. And now I can learn from some of the best."

As a member of the growing group of PokerStars.com celebrities, Jason Alexander joins the impressive likes of former pro tennis star Boris Becker, NHL hockey star Mats Sundin and Cy Young Award winning baseball phenom Orel Hershiser.

Alexander is no newcomer to the live poker circuit, having participated in the last three WSOP events. Last year, Alexander and golfing buddy Ray Romano (star of Everybody Loves Raymond) placed a $1,000 side bet on which would survive the longest in the 2008 WSOP.

Referring to the game of golf and poker alike, Romano was quoted, “I suck at both. The difference is that in golf, I know what I'm supposed to be doing and how I'm supposed to be swinging the club, but I can't do it. Here, I really have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing and what I'm not."

Though Romano is a self-proclaimed donkey at the poker tables, he actually won the bet with Alexander, who fell to the rails very early in the 2008 WSOP.

The 49-year-old actor has a lot in common with another exceptional poker pro, Antonio Esfandiari. Both started out as practicing magicians. While Esfandiari turned his unprofitable talent into a highly successful poker career, Alexander turned to acting as he saw no value working as a magician.

It will be interesting to watch as Jason Alexander represents PokerStars in upcoming events, both online and live. If you’d like to test your skills against the remarkable entertainer, Alexander can be found playing online poker exclusively at PokerStars.
