Event #24 of PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker saw 1,564 players competing in eleven rounds of play before the winner was finally named in the heads up no limit hold'em event. the winner, online player Eugene "MyRabbitFoo" Katchalov, was able to last the twenty one and one half hours of competition to claim the first place prize.
The buy-in for the tournament was $530 so all the players had to pony up, unless they earned a seat via a satellite at PokerStars. The event has a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million but came up short $218,000. Of course, PokerStars added the missing amount to give the players the guaranteed prize pool.
Players had to make it to the fourth round of play to finish in the money and a few big names managed to make it to the final eight competitors. William Thorson finished in fifth while Leo Wolpert finished in seventh. After these two were eliminated and Dokosoko and pilsuhng were knocked out, the two semi-final matches were set. MyRabbitFoo versus imashoku and JakusKhan versus joe E scar. The first match saw MyRabbitFoo gain the chip lead late in game and eventually imashoku would go all in and MyRabbitFoo would call. MyRabbitFoo held pocket queens and that gave him the win and the advancement to the finals.
In the other match, JakusKhan was gaining the lead on joe E scar and JakusKhan made his move. It looked as though joe may have had the hand with pocket kings but JakusKhan got an ace on the river to earn a flush and the win to move on to the finals against MyRabbitFoo.
When the last match began, MyRabbitFoo told JakusKhan they could cut a deal which would see the winner earning $140,000 and $120,000 going to second place. PokerStars support and JakusKhan agreed so the deal was on. MyRabbitFoo came into the match with the chip lead but would soon lose it. He then would work his way back to the lead and the final hand would play out like this: JakusKhan would move all in after the flop and MyRabbitFoo would call. The board read K-9-8 and MyRabbitFoo held K-8 while JakusKhan held 2-10. The turn and the river did not held JakusKhan and MyRabbitFoo was the winner of the tournament. Final Results: 1st: Eugene “MyRabbiFoo” Katchalov ($140,000) 2nd: JakusKhan ($120,000) 3rd: joe E scar ($55,000) 4th: imashoku ($55,000) 5th: William “William” Thorson ($27,500) 6th: “pilsuhng” ($27,500) 7th: Leo “Pechorin” Wolpert ($27,500) 8th: “Dokosoko” ($27,500)
