Pokerstars - Latin American Pacific Tour - Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 10:13
Poker Stars has once again added a new tournament promotion to the already stacked line-up, this time introducing the first ever LAPT, also known as the "Latin American Pacific Tour". In addition to the European and Asian Pacific Tour, the LAPT promises to deliver some of the world's best players both live and online located in the tropics of South America.

The first event will be held on May 3 -5th with qualifiers already available on PokerStars.com and PokerStars.net. If you want a seat to this event you will need to act quickly since each of the tournaments scheduled for Season 1 of the Latin American Pacific Tour are limited to a fixed number. The Rio de Janeiro match will have a total of 300 players and a prize pool guaranteed of $750,000.

After Rio, Poker Stars will be stopping in San Jose Costa Rica from May 22 - 24, followed by Punta Del Este, Uruguay from August 7-9. Each of these events also limits the number of seats to 300 with a buy-in of $2500. The poker room also released that Team Pokerstars Pro’s Andre Akkari along with Humbertos Brenes will be in attendance.

To qualify, simply enter any of the daily LAPT qualifiers starting at $2. Players can also opt for the LAPT Step tournaments which are 9 player, Sit and Go games, with each level awarding entry to the step above. Step Sit and Go tournaments start at $7.50 or 500 FPP’s with six levels in total to win your complete package. The Step Qualifiers are in our opinion your best value since you are provided a chance to try again should you get knocked out in 4th - 2nd place and you are only playing 9 players vs. a few thousand.

The Pokerstars Tour first started with the European Poker Tour in 2003, which is spread across such cities as Prague, Copenhagen, and Barcelona among others and has become one of the top tournaments in Europe. Season four of the EPT saw a record breaking €6.6 Million prize pool in the Grand Final. With the amount of success of the European Poker Tour, they launched the Asian Pacific Poker Tour and now the Latin American Poker Tour. Each of these series of events is televised across the globe.

Each package for Season 1 of the LAPT is valued at $5,000 which includes your $2,500 buy-in, $1,900 for travel and you will also receive hotel accommodations.
