The weekend update from Poker Star's most lucrative tournaments is always something to gawk at, awarding millions of dollars every Sunday in guaranteed tournaments, but last week’s biggest event saw a change in the line-up that won’t soon be forgotten – at least not by the top 226 finishers.
The online poker room did not host its weekly PokerStars.com Sunday Million tournament this weekend, instead hosting in its place a guaranteed 200-seat satellite to the 2008 WSOP Main Event. The $350 buy-in event saw 8,076 entries that trumped the GP to 226 WSOP $12,500 prize packages awarded to the top finishers.
All Told, PokerStar.com awarded nearly $4 million in guaranteed prizes Sunday, just in its top GP events - $3,902,600 to be exact.
The PokerStar Sunday Warm-up – with a $215 buy-in, drew 3,180 participants to up the $500k guaranteed prize pool to $636,000, paying the top 423 finishers. The final table saw heads-up action between “ThePokerBody and “ROONEY_DIVES”, with “ThePokerBody” taking the 1st place victory, worth $93,810. “ROONEY DIVES” was awarded $66,780 for the 2nd place finish.

Next came the Poker Stars Second Chance tournament, a $200k guaranteed with a direct buy-in of $215. A field of 1,304 once again upped the guaranteed prize pool by $60,800, with the top 198 positions finishing in the money bubble. “REALBIGNUTS” sent “Glacier11568” to the rails in heads-up to earn the top prize of $46,240. “Glacier11568” pocketed $33,904.

Even with only 247 entries, the tournament saw yet another escalated prize pool of $180,800, awarding the top 36 positions. Heads-up play came down to “busto_soon” and “nofingclue11”, as “busto_soon” went on to win the 1st place prize of $40,680. “nofingclue11” claimed $28,928 for the 2nd place spot.
