PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker has ended and the last event of the series was of course the Main Event. 2,144 players registered for the Main Event and after twenty three hours of play it was Yevgeniy Timoshenko who earned the first place prize of $1.7 million.
The tournament was a No Limit Hold'em event and had a buy-in of $5,200. The field of players created a prize pool of just over $10 million and overall the series would generate a record breaking amount. The eighth edition of the WCOOP generated a total prize pool of $51,652,800 which is over $11 million from last year’s series. The WCOOP just gets bigger and better as the years go by.
Play would be tough especially when it came down to four handed play. the pivotal point for Timoshenko would be when he knocked out Dan "dkj123" Kelly in fourth place. Timoshenko would gain a substantial lead when his pocket Kings earned him trips and Kelly would be eliminated. Timoshenko would then take out online player ‘reddeevil’ in third to then face ‘Udon Wannit’ in heads up play. Timoshenko held a three to one chip lead over ‘Udon Wannit’ and heads up play would be completed in just eighteen hands. On the final hand Timoshenko would win with K-6 over his opponents 5-6 and take the $1,715,200 pay day.
