Viktor Blom has been continuing his dominating success in the PokerStars Superstar Showdown lately and that didn't change this past weekend. Blom got to take it a bit easy this weekend, as he went up against MasterMixus who was an online qualifier. In the online qualifier showdowns the buy-in is 10% of the normal amount, which meant both players bought into the challenge with $15K.
MasterMixus was given $15K to enter the showdown from PokerStars after qualifying for the chance to play Blom in a massive online qualifier event at PokerStars. When an online qualifier plays in the Superstar Showdown the players is allowed to keep any of the money that they have left at the end of the 2500-hand showdown. You'd think that MasterMixus might try and play tight to keep as much of the $15K as possible, but that wasn't the case early on in the challenge.
In the early stages of the showdown MasterMixus built up a small lead of over $1K, but the lead was lost after MasterMixus made an unsuccessful attempt at a bluff. After the half-way point in the showdown MasterMixus had a lead of nearly $4K, but Blom managed to battle back in the last 1000 hands of the challenge to post a small profit. Blom ended up winning a little over $1K, which is enough to give him the victory.
Viktor Blom now holds a 6-3 record in the PokerStars Superstar Showdown and has profited over $300K thus far. MasterMixus still had over $13K left after the showdown and he got to keep all of the money for his own personal bankroll. He wasn't able to beat Blom, but it was still a good day, as he was able to walk away from the showdown with a profit of over $13K.
Watching Blom and other pros battle against each other is always nice, but when an online qualifier is given the chance to beat the popular Swede it's even better. Make sure you try and win the next online qualifier, so you can be staked $15K and given the chance to go up against one of the best young players in online poker right now.
