The 2009 Aruba Poker Classic Championship had 475 competitors vying for the first place prize of just over $753,000. Competition would be fierce and after heads up play began between Brandon Hall and Robert Mizrachi, Hall would be named the victor.
The final table of the event had seven players but would quickly get down to six competitors after Matt Ross would eliminated by Jose Santos. But Ross would not go home empty handed as he earned $41,000 for his efforts. Sixth place would go to Brock Parker after he showed all in with A-K. Eric Baldwin's pocket Queens would knock Parker out and he would earn $68,810.
Santos would be the next to go after going all in against Chase Steely. Steely earned a straight so Santos was out in fifth with $92,000. Baldwin would go next after he went all in with A-Q and was called by Mizrachi who held A-7. A 7 came on the flop and that would send Eric out in 4th with $126,710.
Mirachi would then knock out Steely in third to begin heads up play against Hall. Before play began the two players decided to cut a deal. The two would decide to chop the pot and the eventual winner would earn $30,000.
On the final hand Hall would call Mizrachi’s all in. Hall would earn a straight and that hand would clinch the 2009 UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic title as well as the first place prize of $753,330. Mizrachi earned $414 680 for his efforts.
The Classic paid out to forty five players and the competitors were able to create a prize pool of $2,303,750 which was divided between the top finishers.
