Ohio's casino issue passed, so in about 2-3 years (by the time they build it) there will be a full fledged casino in my hometown.

Better yet (or in my wife's opinion, worse) the casino will be about 2-3 blocks from my work as long as things go as planned. Needless to say I will have alot of long lunches and taking half days off from work an living in the poker room

I think part of the issue is the conversation at the nosebleeds about pushing with air and mid pairs or the nuts in heads up games. and the lower levels get wind of these things and start trying absurd plays that make no sense when fundamentals will get the job done. I hear it all from the podcasts from various sources like 2+2, poker road etc. So I'm sure the lower level guys are trying it in the wrong ways. Have you gotten the lovely air call and bluff shove on the turn yet? One of my favorite donkey plays of late, very popular at the $10 levels.

    Author: Piney75
Subject: Charity Poker Season 2
Posted: October 09 2009 at 11:11am

Since I love talking to myself...

Session #2

Started off bad cause right when I got there they were starting a fresh 2/5 table. Sucks when you are 11th on the list (meaning I am 1st on the list now). So decided to play 1/2 til a 2/5 opened up. Told them to keep my name on the 2/5 list and 20 minutes later when they called someone for the 2/5 table and wasn't my name I went up to ask them the deal. They wiped all the names off the list... bastards. So stayed at the 1/2 table all night.

Loved the 1/2 table again. Was able to pick up some quick reads and felt comfortable there. Got up $200 real quick just playing solid poker. Read weakness and pick off some bluffs and then pulled the classic call on a 2 flush board and when the flush card hit the river bluffing big to take it down

Then the first noteworthy hand of the night. Picked up KK UTG and popped it to $12, conservative 50s/60s yr old lady bumped it to $22. After 2 calls of $22 it was time to thin the heard. I raise another $50 and the lady next to me is the only caller. Flop comes AQx Checking does nothing... so lead out for $75 and the lady quickly bumps it to $150. All I needed to know and quickly folded. She tells me later she had QQ, and I believed her cuz it felt right. Luckily the A hit the flop or I would have been in trouble.

Then I went on a rush, Started picking up pocker pairs ranging from 99, 10s & Js. 2 of them were back to back as the first one I raised from the button after a bunch of limps (raised it to $20 and everyone folded) then I picked up 10s the next hand and after another round of limpers I bumped it to $20 again and found my fish that wanted to test me as he pushed all in for $100. $80 more to call and it just smelled like a medium pocket pair thinking I was making a move. I was right as he showed 8s and I took it down.

Treaded water for the next hour or so til the next noteworthy hand. On the button with 96s and the whole table limps, I limp as well and we see a flop. 9-6-5 Whole table checks and I decide to lead out for $10 (there was a flush draw out there, not my suit) I know, too small of a bet, but wanted to keep it small. Only 2-3 people drop so I was kicking myself for not betting bigger til I saw the turn... 9 Checks around to me and I check. I have an unbeatable hand in my view (higher pocket pairs would have raised with the draws out there) so was hoping the flush got there. Well, a 5 hits the river for a final board of 9-9-6-5-5. Big blind leads out for $40 and get 3 callers I then pull out the double fisted raise to $200 and I get the other person holding the 9 to call.

Up by about $600 I shut it down for the night as my hands started going into the dumper and it was time to head home.

So for the two sessions ended up up $450 or so. Not bad for the 1/2 table. Damn I love me some fish.

Also of note, issue on the state ballot to put 4 full casinos in Ohio. I almost want to vote against it cause I tihnk the wife would divorce me cuz I would start living at the casinos Or worst since the casino would be two blocks from my work...

Til next time...
