Topic: Important day is Poker today Posted: June 25 2008 at 6:32am |

Today is the vote for the online bill, I forgot to call my senator, hope it gets over turned, but I doubt it.
Dear Jacob,
The vote scheduled today in the Financial Services Committee on H.R. 5767 and the King Amendment has been postponed until tomorrow (Wed. 25th). This gives you one more chance to make your voice heard! If you have not done so already, call your Representative and tell him or her to support H.R. 5767 and the King Amendment. Calls should be made tomorrow morning beginning at 9am EDT. If you have already called in the last 24 hours, it is not necessary to call again.
Background: Unless Congress takes action, regulations to implement the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) will soon take effect. These regulations threaten to snuff out, once and for all, your right to play the great game at the time and place of your choice.
Here's why: The UIGEA regulations will demand that banks block "unlawful internet gambling" but there is no definition of this vague term. Banks will be forced to block millions of transactions that are not in fact illegal. As a result, you may not be able to play poker or any other game of skill online. HR 5767 will prevent this regulatory nightmare. The King amendment will force the regulatory agencies to define "unlawful internet gambling" through a formal rulemaking, with due process and opportunity for input from affected parties.
Your Representative is a member of this committee and we need you to contact him/her and express your support for H.R. 5767, as well as the King amendment which will refine the bill language. PPA strongly supports H.R. 5767 and the King amendment, but this important bill and amendment won't pass without your help!
Call Rep. Scott Garrett TODAY, at (202) 225-4465. A staffer will answer your call. Tell the staffer your name, and that you are a constituent, voter, and poker enthusiast. Ask your Representative to vote in favor of HR 5767, and the King amendment at the Financial Services Committee.
After you make the call, please take a few moments to tell us how the call went by clicking here. Your feedback is important for our future actions.
Proud to Play,
Alfonse D'Amato, Chairman

I believe in poker the way I believe in the American Dream. Poker is good for you. It enriches the soul, sharpens the intellect, heals the spirit, and when played well, nourishes the wallet.-Anonymous

I don't think so but I don't know. Hopefully I will hear tomorow that it was rejected, god the us governments sux. All of this censorship. For the few people who are offended by the F word we can't say it.......all damn stupid Fu***n politics.
With the death of George Carlin, and the censorship of Howard Stern, those people are so talented, but beacause they are against the *norm* of society they get frowned upon. Nobody really has they values, god this freaken sux.
