This is a book of Phil Hellmuth describing many of the losses he
has taken over the years and the poor decisions made by his opponents (who still
managed to beat him). It is almost as bad as listening to him whine about a bad
beat on a televised event, but it is more enjoyable to hear him say that if luck
were not a factor he would never lose than it is to read it. Basically this book
is the same as when a group of three or four poker playing friends get together
and talk about their recent bad beats, only Phil is famous so people pay money
to read about it.
The only piece of strategy contained in the book is that no matter how unlikely
it may be that someone called your raise with 3 9 offsuit and now has nines full
of threes to break your trip aces, it happens from time to time. Reading this
book may actually encourage poor play as you see some of the off the wall stupid
hands that people are calling with and winning. If you like reading about bad
beats and how good Phil Hellmuth is while these other players are all so bad,
you STILL should probably still not waste your time reading this one (yes, it’s
that bad).
