As all of us with any interest in the online poker industry are fully aware, the current front-runner in regards to active player volume is PokerStars. However, there is another contender rapidly climbing the ladder who just may overtake the number-one position in the coming year - PKRpoker.
The decisively intelligent creators of PKRpoker.com put the emphasis on one strong appeal - realistic and ultimately 'cool' 3D graphics. PKR Poker boasts true-to-life avatars that almost rival that of today's computer-generated animated films. Combined with a full range of games and lucrative tournament schedule, PKR is quickly racking up the numbers in peak-hour player traffic.
PKR Poker's innovative 'Emote Control' system serves to boost the awesome graphics at the online poker room, allowing players to take on different moods, make numerous gestures, proffer various body languages and perform the ever-popular chip tricks. As a player progresses through the ranks at PKR Poker, they are awarded more impressive 'Emotes' to play around with, as well as exclusive apparel and accessories for their avatar.
With such an entertaining line-up of features, some would question why PKR Poker isn't even in the top-3 online poker rooms yet. To put it gently, while PKR is ahead of its time graphically, there are a few areas that need major improvement. First and foremost, PKR Poker is only available to Windows PC users, preferably with a high-capacity graphics accelerator card and broadband Internet connection. While the latter is less of an issue, as most computers developed in the last 5 years can easily handle the PKR Poker software, the compatibility issue is not so easily overcome.
The current number-one online poker room, PokerStars.net, released a separate version of it's poker software last year, making the online poker community compatible with all major operating systems - Windows, Mac and Linux. Until PKR Poker follows this developing trend, it is not likely the fantastically entertaining online poker room will have a chance surpassing the overwhelming popularity of PokerStars, or it's second place contender, Full Tilt Poker.
