The annual PartyPoker.com Premier League, running from November 24-30th, will see WSOP millionaire J.C. Tran clad in PKR logos in London this week. Tran struck a deal with PKR.com recently to wear PKR branding throughout the televised event, as well as providing an in-depth interview that will broadcast in PKR's television station and appear in its online poker magazine.
J.C. Tran has an awesome track record at the tables, cashing in 23 World Series of Poker (WSOP) events that included 7 final table finishes, and another 11 World Poker Tour (WPT) cashes, making 5 final tables. Tran has finished in the money in major poker tournaments a total of 81 times, worth nearly $7 million. Just this year, Tran clung on to earn his first WSOP bracelet on June 28 at the 2008 WSOP NL Hold’em Event #49, adding $631,170 to his already massive profit margin.
PKR Poker Marketing Director Simon Prodger commented on the deal with Tran, "We're honored to have the world's best tournament player represent PKR at this year's Premier League. It's a great format, and our association with J.C. will help introduce PKR to a whole new audience of poker fans."
Premier League commentator Jesse May also had some words concerning the consignment between Tran and PKR during an event preview. “He is no one hit wonder, and it is impossible for him to just be a very good player on an unbelievable run. He has so many final tables in big events over the last three years it's just mind boggling. And now, he has started to more regularly close the deal.”
May has a great level of respect for J.C. Tran, believing he has exactly what it takes - a serious viewpoint, strong will, determination and obviously the right skills - to take the Premier League III tournament by storm.
“J.C. said something in one of his interviews that makes me think he will succeed here. He said that he used to push things too hard and has now learned how to let the game come to him. I think that's a really good attitude for this league format. There's so many in this field who will do the pushing. J.C. might just let this title come to him.”
The third installment of London’s Premier League begins Monday, November 24th, and will run through Sunday, November 30th. 12 invitation-only players will buy-in to the league-format tournament for $75,000. Other participants, listed alphabetically, will include Andy Black, Vicky Coren, Tom “durrr” Dwan, 2008 WSOP Main event winner Peter Eastgate, Tony G, poker brat Phil Hellmuth, Juha Helppi, Nenad Medic, Annette Obrestad, Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott and Roland De Wolfe.
PKRpoker.com does not employ the same magnitude of start player teams as many of today’s top online poker rooms, making J.C. Tran’s representation of PKR all the more significant to the online poker room.
