The portentous evening of Friday the 13th set the scene for an extraordinary event at Carbon Poker as poker player "Ruggio" made history, bursting a record breaking Bad Beat Jackpot at the online poker room.
Playing one of CarbonPoker.com's $0.50/$1 cash tables, the landmark event was set into motion when Lady Luck dealt Ruggio a Jack-High Straight Flush of Hearts - perhaps another portentous occurrence being just the day before Valentine’s. However, Ruggio’s opponent “AELANI” had bigger plans, revealing the King and Queen of Hearts that developed a slightly better Straight Flush.
The windfall of prize money flowed long and lucrative for the entire table at Carbon Poker as the internet poker room released its largest ever Bad Beat Jackpot of $1.2 million. Ruggio was awarded the largest portion, $417,396, for suffering the insurmountable bad beat. For winning the hand, AELANI took the second largest prize of $208,698. All other participants at the table padded their bankrolls with a sizeable $41,739.
Ruggio could not be reached for comment, but the winner of the Bad Beat hand, “AELANI”, was elated to voice his enthusiasm. “My first reaction when I saw that I hit a piece of the Jackpot was ‘oh my God’, I am paying for college completely on my own through student loans so first and foremost I thought about how I would be able to pay off all my student loans and start my life in the real world debt-free.”
We offer our sincere congratulations to all who received a slice of the sweet pie that was the Carbon Poker Bad Beat Jackpot. The online poker room will begin building its Bad Beat Jackpot once again, starting at $240,000.
